Pinoy reactions.
Ready to send.

Tawaflick is a curated home for Philippine meme clips. An owner uploads a video, trims the moment, and publishes a looping GIF and a short video that anyone can find, download, or share.

Challenge

A reaction buried in a long recording or video link takes extra work to reuse. The product needed a simple way to turn an uploaded video into a short, shareable moment, then keep both formats together in a searchable collection.

What I built

  • An owner-only upload studio for selecting a clip up to 12 seconds long, previewing it, and generating both formats.
  • Browser-local GIF and video conversion. MP4 keeps the clip’s audio, with WebM available when the browser requires it.
  • A public library with title and tag search, mood filters, sorting, and device-local bookmarks.
  • Direct GIF and video downloads, copyable file links, shareable meme pages, and optional creator credits.
  • Signed owner sessions, upload validation, and a Cloudflare backend using D1 for the catalog and R2 for generated media.
  • A responsive interface with keyboard-accessible dialogs and automatic deployment from GitHub to Cloudflare Pages.

Process the moment, keep the original local.

The source video stays on the owner’s device. The browser trims and converts the selected moment; only the generated GIF, short video, and poster are published. Both outputs share one catalog entry, while byte-range streaming lets visitors seek through the video.

Result

Tawaflick launched as a working product with a collection ready for curated uploads. Browser checks covered conversion, publishing, downloads, video seeking, bookmarks, copy links, and deletion on the live site. The name combines tawa and flick: a small clip with a very Pinoy sense of humor.
